25-year-old Carl Nihleen from Halmstad celebrated the New Year in Switzerland – just a few meters from the tragic bar fire that cost the lives of roughly 40 people.
It still feels surreal. It still feels like you’re going to wake up from this nightmare, but you don’t.
Carl moved from Halmstad to study in Switzerland and since June has worked as an assistant manager at a store and a restaurant.
”Everyone looked like zombies”
Carl, who had worked on New Year’s Eve, celebrated the stroke of twelve with his colleagues and his girlfriend at one of the neighboring bars of Le Constellation, but the New Year’s celebration changed drastically at half past two on New Year’s Eve.
It was an indescribable picture. Everyone looked like zombies with their melted clothes.
