Sweden’s discus giant Daniel Ståhl didn’t get it right in Tuesday’s Continental Tour Gold competition in Hungary.
Ståhl finished sixth – with only a few weeks left until the Olympics.
The reigning Olympic champion settled for a modest 63.36 – a result that was only good enough for sixth place in the event.
Mykolas Alekna, Lithuania, won with his discus 70.20.
Since 2019 when Ståhl set a Swedish record with 71.86, he has been over 70 meters every season – until this year. His best of the year came in early May when he threw 68.99.
Ståhl steps into the Olympics on August 5.
