Charges are about to be brought against an 18-year-old for preparation for terrorist offences in central Stockholm.
– We believe that the purpose of the preparations has been to instill serious fear in the population in the name of the Islamic State. The criminal act could have seriously harmed Sweden, says Deputy Chief Prosecutor Henrik Olin, in a press release.
Preparation for terrorist crimes is said to have taken place from August 2024 to February 2025. The prosecutors also intend to charge the 18-year-old together with a 17-year-old with an attempted murder in Germany in August 2024.
The 18-year-old is also suspected of preparing for violations of the Act on Flammable and Explosive Goods, Serious Crime and Terrorism, Serious Crime Training. Both he and the 17-year-old are also suspected of participation in a terrorist organization, a serious crime.

The suspected 18-year-old is a resident of Skåne and is a citizen of both Sweden and Syria. The indictment is expected to arrive on Thursday, November 6.
