One person has been seriously injured after a shooting on a bus in Bollmora in Tyresö, south of Stockholm. The person has been taken by ambulance to hospital.
The shooting took place on an SL bus that had stopped at the bus stop at 3pm on Wednesday.
– It happened when the driver had stopped at the bus stop to let people off and on, says Sophie Gunnarsson, press communicator at SL.
Around 20 people were on the bus at the time of the shooting.
The police confirm that one person is seriously injured and an unknown perpetrator has been seen running from the scene.
At 4pm, the police wrote on their website that the injured person has been identified, but that they do not currently want to release information about the person’s identity for privacy reasons.
Schools evacuated
Several schools, including Tyresö gymnasium, Nybodaskolan and Dalskolan, have been evacuated.
– The high school is closed and the atmosphere is anxious, says Emil Johansson, principal at Tyresö high school.
Preschools and primary schools were also closed initially, says Martin Widholm, head of schools at Tyresö municipality.
– We are gradually starting to let children and students home at schools, he says.
The son was nearby: “Uncomfortable”
A woman living near Tyresö high school says that she sees the barriers and the police operation in the backyard. Her son was on his way to a bus stop when he met the bus.
– It is uncomfortable. I was mostly worried about my son, that is the first thought that comes to mind, she says.
Another woman in the same area says that it has been quiet in the area for a while, and that it feels “uncomfortable” that there has been a shooting so close to her home.
– My daughter goes to high school and has to pass Tyresö high school to get home. We don’t know how she’s going to get home, and I don’t dare go out, I don’t know if any perpetrators are on the loose, she says.
At just before 6 p.m., the police on site announced that they were lifting the larger blockades so that those with cars in the parking lot could get home, but that they were keeping the blockades around the bus and the bus stop.
