Evelina Bäcklund Kilito lives in Helsingborg and suffered from exhaustion syndrome in 2017. She feels that she often had to take the initiative in her treatments herself.
- I am critical of the fact that you have to find out everything yourself, and so the care is quite unequal, she says.
Because there is so little knowledge, the range of treatments varies from clinic to clinic, which leads to uncertainty among patients and creates unequal care. This is what several researchers SVT spoke to say.
It is something that Evelina Bäcklund Kilito in Helsingborg noticed. She suffered from exhaustion syndrome in 2017, in connection with a pregnancy. For example, she believes that there are better opportunities for care in Stockholm than in Helsingborg.
- The care you receive depends on where in the country you live, she says.
Have tried different treatments
The road back has been long for Evelina Bäcklund Kilito. She has gone through many treatments, which she felt she often had to initiate herself. First CBT, then psychodynamic therapy and also green rehab. Many have been rewarding, but it has taken a long time to come back.
She had wanted concrete advice and feels that she had to find out everything about the disease herself. Only in 2021 did she get to see a rehab coordinator who understood what it was all about and could help her.
Today, she works 25 percent at a commercial garden.
