Man and woman arrested after bomb threat at Stockholm Central

A man and a woman have been arrested after a suspected dangerous object was found at Stockholm Central on Wednesday evening.

They are both, on probable grounds, suspected of gross violation of the Act on Flammable and Explosive Goods, as well as of preparation for gross public-dangerous devastation.

The alarm came at 17.45 on Wednesday that a suspected dangerous object had been found at Central Station in Stockholm. On Thursday morning, the news came that two people could be arrested after the incident. They will be questioned during the day.

– Only after these hearings have been held do we expect to have a clearer picture of the case, writes senior prosecutor Carolina Frohm in a press release from the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

The persons are a man in their 30s and a woman in their 35s. They are suspected of violating the Act on Flammable and Explosive Goods, a serious crime, as well as preparation for serious destruction of public property.

On Wednesday night, the National Bomb Squad was called in to investigate the object. There is currently no information on whether it was sharp or not.

A witness who works at a fast food restaurant at the central station told DN that she heard a person come running and shout: “bomb!”

– I didn’t take it seriously at first. No one around us did. Then another comes and shouts “bomb” again. Then everyone started running out.
