Dramatic scenes unfolded in Luleå when a young A-tractor driver refused to stop at a police checkpoint. Now a 15-year-old is punished for several crimes and the parents have to pay for the sins.
A-Tractor
A Swedish A-Tractor is a car that is rebuild to be a kind of a moped and can be legally driven on roads by minors with minimal experience and a simple A-Tractor license. A-Tractors are known to be illegally tuned and driven faster than the maximum allowed speed of 30Kmh, sometimes the limitation is removed completely and A-Tractors reach speeds upwards to 100-120Kmh, driven by minors.
It was on September 7 that a policeman was supposed to stop the young driver. But instead of stopping, the 15 year-old tried to run over the police and a patrol immediately began a pursuit.
The youth later tried to push the police car off the road and it finally took a mat of nails to stop the vehicle.
Convicted of four different crimes
It turned out that the boy was drunk and he was charged with several crimes.
In questioning, he himself stated that he panicked when he saw the blue lights because he did not want to be caught for drunk driving.
He also admits that he drove carelessly when the speed was 100 km/h and now the Luleå district court has handed down its verdict.
The boy is sentenced for attempted violence against an official, gross negligence in traffic,
illegal driving and drunk driving.
The parents have to pay
The penalty will be youth care, where the 15-year-old must follow the social welfare board’s youth contract.
He is also sentenced to pay SEK 10,000 in damages to the police officer who was nearly run over. He must pay that bill jointly with the parents.
