Post-mortem after third Northvolt death complete – Police: Further investigations required

The autopsy after the third person who inexplicably died after a work shift at Northvolt in Skellefteå is now complete. Like the two previous autopsies, this death is unexplained.

Extended investigations into the cause of death are required because nothing could be determined during the usual investigation, says Petter Källman, criminal inspector.
Nor does the third death where workers at the battery factory in Skellefteå died at home after their shifts have any explanation after all three have now been autopsied, something Dagens’ work was the first to report.

In the past six months, three men have been found dead in their homes. A 33-year-old man was found dead in his bed in January.
A month later, another 19-year-old man was found dead in his bed.

Unable to determine the cause of death

At the beginning of June, a man in his 60s was found dead on his balcony. All three men had returned home after working at the battery factory.

Now the autopsy of the most recent deceased is complete. According to the police, no clear cause of death has been determined.

We continue to work on this cause of death investigation and extended investigations are required, says Petter Källman, criminal inspector at the environmental crime unit in the police region North to SVT.
