Ticket inspectors jumped by passengers

Three uniformed ticket inspectors were assaulted by two passengers at Vasaplatsen late on Tuesday evening.

They allegedly received punches, pushes and were hit with a mobile phone

says Frida Antonsson, press communicator at Västtrafik.

Just before 11pm on Tuesday evening, security guards were alerted to Vasaplatsen in Gothenburg after ticket inspectors pressed their personal alarms.

The police also came to the scene, and then received information that some form of assault must have taken place.

There are three ticket inspectors who are said to have been beaten. Exactly what that assault must have consisted of is unclear. There is no information about physical injuries

says police spokesperson Adam Isaksson Samara.

Unknown perpetrators

When the police arrived at the scene, the suspected perpetrators had managed to leave.

It is probably about three unknown perpetrators. Based on the report that has been drawn up, in addition to the assault, threats must also have been expressed by these perpetrators

says Adam Isaksson Samara.

According to Västtrafik, there were three uniformed ticket inspectors who were allegedly jumped.

In connection with ticket control, there are passengers who could not show a valid ticket, they were asked to get off and then became aggressive, whereupon the controllers pressed their alarms

-Frida Antonsson, press communicator at Västtrafik.

Hit with mobile phone and fists

In total, there must have been three passengers involved, after which two of them must have given themselves to the controllers physically.

They are said to have been punched, shoved and hit with a mobile phone

-Frida Antonsson.

The incident is being investigated as violence and threats against an official. The ticket inspectors should be fine.

They worked at night and are now resting at home. But what I learned is that they are fine under the circumstances, says Frida Antonsson.

Asked the passengers to get off

Every night, Västtrafik has ticket inspectors out in traffic. Antonsson says that the inspectors followed all routines.

They have tried to resolve the situation through dialogue. I would also like to add that every single incident that occurs is one too many, everyone should be able to feel safe when they go to work.
