Nytorgsmannen Fredrik Lundgren has been sentenced to five years in prison. The Lund District Court announced this on Thursday.
He has been convicted of, among other things, the rape of a 17-year-old girl in Hörby.
Nytorgsmannen Fredrik Lundgren, who has changed his name several times, is one of Sweden’s most notorious sex offenders.
He was sentenced to five years in prison for a series of rapes in Stockholm and moved to Skåne after serving his prison sentence.
Now he is being convicted of new sexual crimes that he committed during the time he was conditionally released, including the rape of a 17-year-old girl in Hörby and a series of sexual assaults.
Not aggravated rape
The prosecutor wanted him convicted of aggravated rape because he believed that the girl was drugged with drugs that were put in vodka.
But the district court believes that it was not possible to prove that there was anything else in the glass than vodka and therefore does not consider the rape to be aggravated. In addition to the prison sentence, he must pay 270,000 SEK in damages to the girl.
– It is a serious rape with a high penalty value, but the circumstances are not so aggravating that it should be assessed as aggravated rape, says councilor Linda Palmenäs, chairwoman of the case, in a press release.
Defense attorney: “The girl is relieved”
The girl’s defense attorney also hoped that the rape would be considered aggravated, but is still satisfied with the verdict, which entitles her client to damages of over a quarter of a million kronor.
– It is clear that it has been very difficult for her, especially since it has been a very high-profile case, says the girl’s defense attorney Azar Akbarian to SVT.
Another 20 months
Fredrik Lundgren is also sentenced for filming up the skirts of a long line of women and for sexually molesting children.
Since he relapsed into crime while he was on parole, he will also serve the 20 months that remained of his previous prison sentence.
Lundgren’s lawyer Anna Carlén is critical of the verdict and writes in an email to SVT that she believes that the stories of the plaintiff and certain witnesses have been given too much credibility by the court. She also writes that an appeal is imminent.
