When emergency personnel arrived at the scene of the crime, life-saving attempts began – but the teenager’s life could not be saved.
Late on Tuesday evening, the police were alerted to a suspicious shooting in Bagarmossen, in southern Stockholm. A 16-year-old boy was found with a serious gunshot wound at the scene – and he later dies in hospital.
During the night, the police carried out a technical investigation at the crime scene. There are currently no arrests.
According to information to the media, the 16-year-old has no connection to gang crime and was not the intended target either.
Shot despite police presence
Tobias Lövström, head of command at the police in Stockholm, comments on the information:
– I can neither confirm nor deny, but we are working with different tracks, he says.
During the evening in question, the police had an increased presence in the area after an earlier shooting. Despite that, the murder of the 16-year-old could not be prevented.
– It indicates the incredible recklessness of the perpetrators, says the commanding officer.
– We have to do more in society to deal with this.
